EMPOWERING YOUR SUCCESS IN 2013

As 2012 moves swiftly to closure, and before we start charting the new, I want to voice a word of caution about a thought pattern that can sabotage even best efforts for desired change. For many of us, there can be a temptation to focus on the year’s unfulfilled goals. However, if you are at all like me you probably started the year off with a list of goals and aspirations that would have taken the average super being a decade to achieve! So I invite you, in reflection, be gentle and loving with yourself!

#1 Begin by Recounting All the Accomplishments and Milestones That You Have Achieved in 2012.  Pat yourself on the back. Give full appreciation to the good you have brought about. Then, after several days recounting your achievements, turn your attention to what’s next. Far too often, at the close of a year, we beat ourselves up about what we haven’t achieved and completely overlook the far greater good we have accomplished.

“A Goal Properly Set Is Halfway Reached.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

#2 Know What You Really Desire.  Be certain the goal you choose is coming from a deep place within and is not just something arising from someone else’s urging or a societal norm. Take some quiet time and reflect on what is really most important to you. Give some thought toward including all areas important in a well balanced life as you formulate your goals. Consider the following:

  • Health and well-being
  • Relationships
  • Career and Creative Expression
  • Abundance and Financial Prosperity
  • Spirituality

Our goals must be deeply meaningful to us, or else it’s likely when turbulence arises, that we’ll find ourselves blown off course.

#3  Test Your 2012 Goals to See if They are Worthy of You.  Because, when all is said and done, we are trading our life for

  1. Does this dream enliven me?
  2. Does this dream align with my core values?
  3. Do I need help from a higher power to make this dream come true?
  4. Will this dream require me to grow into more of my true self?
  5. Will this dream ultimately bless others?

Spend some quiet time in reflection, and if your goal passes the test, consider it worthy of your life energy.

#4  Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind Now that you have chosen your 2012 goals and tested them to be sure they are worthy of your precious time and energy, let’s begin reprogramming your subconscious to make their implementation as easy as possible. For this I recommend the use of “affirmations.” Affirmations are brief positive statements made about your self and your life, framed in first person, present tense. For each life goal form one or more affirmations to build and support a belief that your chosen goal is TRUE for you NOW. I particularly like to begin each affirmation with wording suggested by motivational speaker Bob Proctor, “I am so happy and grateful now that…” As an example of a completed affirmation suggested by Bob around abundance, consider the following.

“I am so happy and grateful now that money comes to me in increasing quantities thru multiple sources on a continuous basis.”

After you have written your affirmations, begin using them daily, reading them out loud with deep conviction, first thing upon awakening in the morning and last thing before sleep at night. With each repetition you are inscribing ever deeper and deeper in consciousness your new and chosen belief supporting your goals.

GOING BEYOND RESOLUTIONS…

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.  He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary, new universal and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him, or the old laws will be expanded and reinterpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings.”     ~ Henry David Thoreau

# 5  Committed Outer Action.  While it is certain that we have paved the way for great results up to this point, the follow through of committed action must be present. Having established your goals and started using affirmations built to support them, you will begin receiving inspired ideas concerning actions that you might take to bring your goals to fruition. You may receive a number of possible options. One thing remains certain, though, you must take outer action in alignment with your goals! Additionally, this action must be sustained for a sufficient period of time. As your proficiency grows in listening to your Inner Wisdom, you will know what you need to do and when you need to do it, for each successive step.

While using Spiritual Principles will require commitment and dedication, you will find it to be far easier than just trying to keep New Year’s Resolutions the old-fashioned way with sheer will power!  Expect happiness and success beyond your wildest dreams! You were made to succeed!  And our world needs you to “BE” your Dream!
